Shifting down to fourth to maintail hill speeds is much easier to deal with than having the engine screaming all the time. I think I normally go into 5th around 50 to 55 mph. I just have to find a fast way to attach it so I can swap it out with the seat fast for when the wife goes on back. Shortly after purchase I added a small cafe fairing and flat drag bars. I like Harleys, the was my 3rd new one, but I like the old ones much better then the new ones which all seem to be made for very little people and not very sporty. The stock tire are hard, I had approx 11k miles on them before I switched out.

Cheers, Mike. The slower take off is only from a stand still, needs a bit more clutch work, but when shifting gears RPM based, instead of speed based, it should do very little to acceleration as I'll be in a smaller gear longer, and do less gear shifts.
